According
to European Union’s energy performance of building
directive (EPBD) it is recognized that the largest
potential for energy saving lies with the existing
building stock therefore the objective is to promote and
improve the energy performance of new and existing
buildings by introducing cost effective measures
including renewable energy systems. Therefore in UK
every house which is to be sold or rented after June 1,
2007 must have an energy performance certificate (EPC).
EPC shows 7 bands from A-G and every band is associated
with annual energy consumption or SAP rating as shown in
the specimen.
